Asus India announces Eee Top ET1602

Asus today unwrapped their Eee Top ET1602 touchscreen AIO PC. No real surprises as such from the last time we saw it but there are a few things which points to a troubled future of the device, at least in India. First is the price. The Eee Top carries a hefty price tag of Rs. 44,000 ($898). That's too much considering the thing you're getting is a netbook with a 15.6-inch screen display and some touchscreen apps to make it more usable.

Secondly, Asus seems to target children and elders but I think this product suits more to businesses rather than end users. Thirdly, the keyboard and the mouse are not bundled with the Eee Top. Though they don't cost much but the non-inclusion of the input devices gives a point to the prospective buyer to look for some other options.

Here are the full specifications:

BlackBerry Storm firmware 4.7.0.90 leaks for GSM & CDMA handsets

Yet more firmware leaks for the BlackBerry Storm, and it's looking like the only way to get a really stable, usable smartphone is to update it unofficially.  Version 4.7.0.90 will play nicely with both the Verizon Storm 9500 and the Vodafone Storm 9530, and reportedly brings with it increased stability, faster screen transitions and a new, full keyboard in portrait view.

There's also talk of more free memory with the new firmware; one user observed their Storm jumping from 36MB free when running v4.7.0.75 to 47MB free in v4.7.0.90.  Camera functionality is also said to be quicker, as are screen rotations.

Remember, updating your phone with unofficial, leaked firmware can lead to a broken BlackBerry and a void warranty.  SlashGear doesn't recommend unofficial updates; we'd much prefer if RIM, Verizon and Vodafone themselves pulled their finger out and released them properly.

Xbox 360 and PS3, digital distribution or tangible copy?

Xbox 360 and PS3, digital distribution or tangible copy? We've been hearing a lot about next generation media and video games by digital distribution, but many gamers like their games in a tangible copy. We should all be aware of the pros and cons of digital distribution.

The Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 will both offer services for the gamer, although this is not to decide what service will be better. Instead we would like to hear how you like your video games, by digital distribution or tangible copy?

Some people much rather a tangible copy, an actual disc seems to have more long term value as you can sell it on at a later date while a download would most likely be just for you even after you have paid for it. These gamers are still happy to download updates and some extras.

Then you may be a gamer that prefers a game on stream, you would have no worries about corruption, or losing the actual disc. In theory you should also get the games cheaper by streaming or downloading.

So what's your opinion about digital distribution and tangible copies of games and media?

Apple Inc. shares hit two-year low: Will they rebound?

Apple Inc. shares hit two-year low: Will they rebound?Apple Inc. shares (APPL) have now hit a two-year low; they are now at their lowest since December 2006. Apple shares fell to $4.13 or 5 percent, Apple finished trading on Tuesday at $78.20. The question is will Apple Inc. shares manage to rebound, or is this a sign of things to come?

Gene Munster who is a Piper Jaffray analyst said that Apple's shipments of iPods and Mac computers rebounded in December, which did help increase sales for the quarter. When analyzing data from the NPD Group, Munster thinks that Apple sold at least 2.5 million to 2.6 million in this quarter and 19 to 20 million iPods.

The Apple iPod has seen its sales slipping month on month, so Apple need to do some great marketing if they want the iPod to become a top seller again. There are those out there who believe that the news of Steve Jobs leaving in the summer will now start to have an effect on Apple Inc. shares, only time will tell.
